Despite having not read the script yet, Ruffalo has described Ragnarok as a Universal road movie or like the 1980s movie Midnight Run with the Hulk and Thor. He’s also teased that the Hulk’s personality and Banner’s personality have started to merge a bit.
What we’ve learned has lined up with what Ruffalo is sharing, plus a long-standing rumor about the future of the Hulk dating back to fandom’s post-Avengers cries in 2013. Back then, audiences were enthralled by that movie’s version of The Hulk and how he was funny, well-powered, and not a drag like he had been in the two previous Hulk movies that made it to screens.
The rumor was that Marvel was planning to weave the character through the Avengers “Phases” in a creative way, banishing the Hulk from Earth afterAvengers 2, spinning off into his own Planet Hulk movie (based on the Greg Pak comics storyline of the same name) and returning him to Earth in Phase Three in some sort of World War Hulk (also a comic book storyline) Avengers movie. The specifics of that arc were outright denied by Marvel staff over and over again, leading up to Joss Whedon’s follow-up (Avengers: Age of Ultron) and after the Hulk mysteriously steals a Quinjet and disappears at the end of that movie.
When Joss Whedon was asked if Planet Hulk or World War Hulk were going to be a Phase Three movies, his response was: “Well I’m really not supposed to comment, but no, that’s nonsense.” Which is what makes what follows all the more amazing.
According to our sources, after Thor catches on to Hela and Loki’s (still mysterious) plot that is going down in Asgard, Hela destroys Mjolnir, and banishes Thor from Asgard (which we covered here). Loki and Hela’s plan involves the major arc of the Marvel Universe, and just when it looks like Thor is about to put a stop to it, he gets banished — but not to any old planet. He ends up on a gladiatorial planet where his head is shaved and he’s forced to fight for his life. Let’s call this planet Sakaar, like it was in the comic books.
Thor knows that he has to get to some MacGuffin weapon object to defeat Hela and Loki (could this be the Infinity Gauntlet that Thanos is in possession of, or maybe an assemblage of Infinity Stones?) and he has to get off the planet. Thor runs through all of his alien opponents in gladiatorial combat, even without his trademark hammer. Finally, Thor has to face the current champion of the arena, and wouldn’t you know who that ends up being? The Hulk.
When we reconnect with Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok, he’s managed to avoid reverting back to the Banner state since we last saw him in the Quinjet inAvengers: Age of Ultron. Hulk in Hulk form is pretty much unkillable, so he survived the trip to Sakaar (however he got there). His “Banner” is starting to seep through into the Hulk persona, and because of the Hulk-Banner melding, Hulk actually remembers Thor and his relationship to him. That’s what starts the two on a Midnight Run to the MacGuffin that Thor desperately needs.
Some of these details could shift like the sands of time considering the shooting script for Thor: Ragnarok hasn’t been locked down, but sources confirm that the outline is there: Marvel found a way to include the Planet Hulk storyline without having to attempt a solo Hulk movie where everyone is a CGI character, not to mention dealing with the character’s solo movie rights (which has some sort of hold-up with Universal). Instead, gladiator Chris Hemsworth will be the audience’s focus as Thor picks up Hulk on his road-trip through the stars.
Dan vertelden de Russo’s nog iets wat heel tof zou kunnen zijn om de One-Shots weer nieuw leven in te blazen. De laatste One Shot All Hail The King was alweer 3 jaar geleden en waren leuke toevoegingen aan de MCU:
“We can’t go into too many details about this, but we are thinking, very specifically, about to do new ways of what you are talking about with ‘Avengers: Infinity War,'” Anthony Russo said. “We’re just in the beginning phases of figuring them out. Yes, DVDs are gone but there is this wonderful internet platform out there called YouTube.”
Although it can be difficult to monetize YouTube, the filmmaker said the content would serve to build anticipation for the feature, like a trailer. “There could do more elaborate versions of trailers, for instance, that are shot specifically for online that will never appear in the movie but that may appear as a kind of short film,” he said.
“We’re also talking to Facebook and Twitter and Instagram about ways to feed ancillary content to them and to viewers because it’ll go viral there and you can reach millions of people,” Anthony Russo added. “The platform is changing but it is a lot easier to sit on your couch and Apple TVpops up rather than you having to get up and find a DVD, so it is what it is, and there are always new and different ways to reach the audience.”
Jeremy Renner staat open voor een Hawkeye Netflix-serie, wat ook weer een mooie toevoeging zou kunnen zijn om meer over de achtergrond van Clint Barton en zijn band met Black Widow te weten te komen:
Answering questions during a spotlight panel for the actor at Silicon Valley Comic Con, Hawkeye and Avengers actor Jeremy Renner was asked if he would do a Hawkeye series on Netflix like Daredevil.
“I think that’s actually a really great model, if there’s ever a way to explore the character, maybe it’s in that world. These are things that are really not in my control, but I’d be open to it. I’ve really enjoyed getting to explore the character more recently. The Netflix model is where all the character drama goes to now, you’re doing a superhero movie or a Netflix or HBO kind of model. So I’d be open to it. Not up to me, though.”
”Marvel and Netflix are pleased to announce that Finn Jones (“Game of Thrones”) will star in “Marvel’s Iron Fist,” the newest series coming soon only to Netflix.
Jones will play Daniel Rand, who returns to New York City after being missing for years. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
“Danny Rand is a very complicated character. He’s a billionaire New York Buddhist monk martial arts superhero who’s still trying to figure out what exactly that all means,” said Executive Producer and showrunner, Scott Buck. “Finn is able to play all these levels in such an honest, revelatory way that as soon as I saw him I knew he was our Danny.”
“Finn wonderfully blends confidence with vulnerability, making him the perfect choice as he struggles to find his place in the world,” said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel TV, Jeph Loeb. “Now that we’ve found our Danny Rand, we’ve completed our principal cast for the upcoming Defenders on Netflix and we are thrilled to continue to show audiences unexplored corners of the Marvel Universe.”

Character Name: JODY

Now, it’s worth noting that, having seen audition videos for both Jody and Walter, we as a team all agree that Jody is meant to be a code name for Joy Meachum and Walter is meant to be a stand-in for Ward Meachum. As for Devon, we’re assuming that is Davos, with Christine obviously meant to be Colleen. (Side note: We originally thought Walter was meant to be a stand-in for Wendell (in flashbacks), however, after seeing the audition videos, it became evident that it wasn’t.) We’ve included a bit of the dialogue from the Jody and Walter auditions below.
A bit of dialogue from the Jody audition tape:
“I’m in a meeting.”
“The vote’s in an hour. Will we have the pleasure of your company?”
“Move it to Wednesday?”
“It is Wednesday.”
“Move it to next Wednesday.”
(Hard to understand.)
“Look, I can either remind you that my name’s on the side of this building, or I can puke on your shoes. Which one’s gonna get rid of you quicker?”
[On Phone] “Amy, be a doll and get me an egg & cheese sandwich… and a gallon of coffee. No, no, no, he doesn’t need anything. He’s just leaving.”
And here’s a snippet of the dialogue from one the Walter audition tapes, which we believe to be for Ward Meachum:
“When were you gonna tell me?”
“Tell you what?”
“That you were bringing Dylan (stand in for Danny) into the company.”
“I wouldn’t call it bringing him in, he’s getting an office.”
“And a salary, and a board seat, I imagine.”
“His name is on the building, what would you recommend I do?”
“Distract him. Non-voting board seat. Stick him in one of the buildings out in Brooklyn. Assign him one of the startups, preferably, the one run by the woman with the long legs.”
Along with the character breakdowns above and bits of the audition dialogue used for two of those characters, we also stumbled upon yet another audition – this time for a character named Sylvan. In the audition video for Sylvan, it appears as though he’s talking to Danny. However, while the character appears to be a doctor at first, as the conversation continues, it appears that the character is another patient.
Here’s a bit of dialogue from that audition:
“Hm. There you are.”
“Where am I?”
“You are at Rast Psychiatric Hospital.”
“How’d I get here?”
“The same way that most people get here, you exhibited behavior that concerned people.”
“I don’t belong here.”
“That is usually the first thing that people say.”
“No, I mean it.”
“And the second thing.”
“Can you loosen these straps?”
“That – That I’m afraid that I can’t do just yet. Word is you like to put up a fight.”
“I’m not dangerous.”
“They had a fellow down the hall say the exact same thing just before he bit the doctor’s nose off.”
“I have to get out of here.”
“I know how disoriented you can be to wake up and find yourself in a place like this, but trust me, we’re here to help. And I think I know exactly how. You need to kill yourself.”
